Witness the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Japanese conductor, Kazuki Yamada in a concert featuring Takemitsu’s shimmering How slow the Wind, Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1 and Franck’s Symphony in D Minor. Prior to the concert, attend the Japanese Culture Exhibition centered around the beauty of the cherry blossom featuring artistic practices of Shodo (large scale calligraphy), Sumi-e (ink painting), Mokuhanga (wood blocking printing), Ikebana (flower arranging), and hands on Origami. The Exhibition will be presented by the Japanese Culture Center and the Japanese Arts Foundation Grainger Ballroom starting at 6:00 PM and open to all ticket holders.
