**For students ages 13 – 15**
Students will learn to write in hiragana and katakana as well as speak with everyday vocabulary and basic grammar. A curriculum and workbook will be provided. Students should bring a notebook and pen to take notes.
Lessons are consecutive. While there is an open office hour online during the week for any quick questions on the homework, this course is not recommended for anyone who has to miss more than one lesson in a row as we are unable to provide make-up lessons at this time.
Please note that once the courses have started, new beginner students will not be allowed to join in the middle; they won’t be able to catch up.
If your family has prior engagements that prevent him/her from coming to a class, your child is expected to do and turn in the homework for the missed lesson and take the missed quizzes upon returning to class. While every session builds on the previous lessons, each class covers a lot of new material as well. It will be impossible to review an entire lesson again.
The homework is directly tied to what is learned in the lesson, appears on the quizzes and will be on the test. Your child must get an 85% or above on the test to graduate from the Beginner class and move onto the Advanced Beginner class.
