Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging, originated with Ikenobo in Kyoto, Japan, as a Buddhist floral offering. This show is presented by the Ikenobo Ikebana Society, Chicago Chapter, and will feature arrangements from members, including chapter president Charles Harris Sensei, who will be on hand to answer questions about Ikenobo.
The exhibition is free. Parking and admission to the Chicago Botanic Garden is $25.00 for members or residents of Lake County and $30 for non-members and non-residents.
The exhibition is open Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4:30 pm.
The Chicago Chapter of the Ikenobo Ikebana Society was founded by Professor Ikka Nakashima in 1965. Professor Charles Harris is currently President of the organization. He teaches and conducts demonstrations and seminars throughout the Midwest.
The Ikenobo Ikebana Society of Chicago gives thanks to the Chicago Botanic Garden and the Japanese Culture Center for their support. Special thanks to Alex Schneider of the Chicago Botanic Garden, whose assistance is invaluable.
